Cleland Endorses Sadiq
State Senate 56
U.S. Senator Max Cleland has officially endorsed State Senate candidate Akhtar Sadiq.
Sadiq is running in Senate District 56
against an incumbent. In his
endorsement, Cleland said, “Sadiq has always put his community first, and
that's what we need in our elected leaders." Cleland went on to say, "I am personally
confident of Akhtar Sadiq's knowledge, skills, and experience in helping his
entire community and our State, and am confident he will serve the best
interests of his constituents in the Senate."
"It is an honor to be endorsed by a true American Hero like Max
Cleland," said Sadiq, a business and financial consultant with more than
40 years experience with Fortune 500, multi-national industries, and one of the
“Big 4” CPA Firms. Sadiq wants to bring his knowledge and work ethic to the
Capitol to restore accountability to the Georgia Senate. “The people of Georgia and of District 56 are
not being served under the Gold Dome,” said Sadiq; “I will work hard to address
our most pressing issues while planning for our long-term needs.”
“My first priority will be to return funding to education that was
stripped by my opponent,” said Sadiq. “I
will also work to restore PeachCare to the 21,000 children who lost it in the
last legislative session. Children should be our first priority, and the State
Budget should reflect that!"
In 2006, Sadiq received the Outstanding Leadership in the Community and
Outstanding Georgia Citizen Awards from Secretary of State Cathy Cox. Sadiq serves as Treasurer and an Officer of
the US Navy League Board and is involved in numerous civic organizations. Actions speak louder than words. Sadiq’s actions demonstrate his commitment to
his community and making Georgia a better place for our children and families.
“I have the knowledge and experience to work through a budget until it makes
sense,” said Sadiq. “The Senate should work for the people of Georgia for a
change.”
